Tacoma movers from Home2Home Moving carrying boxes into a Tacoma home

I started Home2Home Moving in Tacoma because I got tired of hearing the same stories. Mover didn’t show. Quote doubled on move day. Couch got cracked, nobody called back. If you’ve called around for Tacoma movers this week, you’ve probably heard one of those.

We’re at 11105 S Steele St, Unit #119, off Pacific in the South End. Most of our work is right here in Tacoma. Some weeks we’re up in Hilltop hauling a couch down a flight of stairs that wasn’t built for one. Other weeks we’re out in University Place moving a four-bedroom across town.

Phone is (206) 817-5185. Or use the free quote form if it’s late and you don’t want to call.

The moves we do

  • Apartments. We do a lot of apartment moves in Tacoma — Hilltop, Stadium, downtown, the South End. Studios and one-bedrooms mostly, with the occasional walk-up that nobody warned us about. If your building has a freight elevator with a reservation window, tell us when you call so we can plan around it.
  • Houses. Three and four-bedroom houses around the North End, Proctor, and the West End. Five-bedrooms too, those take longer than people think — usually a full day with a 3-man crew.
  • Senior moves. These run slower on purpose. We’ve helped a lot of families move a parent into Franke Tobey Jones or Tacoma Lutheran, and the pace is different than a regular move. More inventory, more “wait, where did grandma want that lamp.” More patience. The senior moving service page has the details.
  • Offices and small commercial. Tuesday afternoons don’t work for office moves, so we do most of ours nights and weekends. See commercial moving for what that looks like.
  • Packing. Some people want us to pack the whole house. Some just want help with the kitchen and the breakables. Both are fine — packing and unpacking is priced per the job. Boxes are included.
  • Labor only. You rented a U-Haul or got a POD dropped in the driveway. You want bodies to load it. We do that. Labor only is the cheapest way to move if you’ve got the truck handled. Same idea with loading and unloading.
  • Furniture assembly. Beds, Ikea, sectionals, the elliptical you’ve been meaning to put back together. We bring the tools. Assembly and disassembly is usually a flat add-on.

If you’re not sure what you need, call. I’d rather spend five minutes on the phone than send a quote for the wrong service.

What makes us different (or doesn’t)

Look, every moving company in Tacoma will tell you they’re licensed, insured, careful, on time. Half of them are. So here’s the short version of what we actually do:

We’re licensed in Washington (WUTC). Ask any mover for their permit number. If they pause, hang up.

The quote we email you is the quote you pay. We don’t pad it on move day unless you add stuff after we leave the original walkthrough. If we missed something on our end, that’s on us.

Same crew every time. Our movers are W-2, not day labor off Craigslist. They’ve been with us. They know how to wrap a dresser without scratching a stair rail.

Pads, wrap, dollies, straps, mattress bags, floor runners — all on the truck. No extra line item for “materials.”

We answer the phone on Saturdays. Most people book moves on the weekend. We figured we should be there for that.

How a move with us actually goes

You call or fill out the form. We ask the obvious stuff (size of place, stairs, parking, anything heavy or fragile) and get back to you usually within an hour during the day. If you’ve got a piano or a 600-pound safe, mention it — we send extra crew.

A day or two before, we confirm. Day of, crew shows up in uniform with a truck. They walk through with you. Lay down floor runners, wrap the furniture, start carrying.

At the new place, boxes go where they’re labeled. Kitchen to the kitchen. Bedroom to the bedroom. Beds get reassembled. We walk through with you before we leave so you can flag anything that looks off.

If something gets damaged, we deal with it. That’s what the insurance is for. Office answers calls the same week, not three months later.

Tacoma neighborhoods and ZIP codes

Every Tacoma ZIP — 98401 through 98499. Most weeks we’re in Hilltop, Stadium District, North End, Proctor, the South End, McKinley, South Tacoma, and around the Mall. If you’re in University Place, Fircrest, or right at the Lakewood or Puyallup line, that’s still us. Full list on the service areas page. City info is at cityoftacoma.org if you need anything official.

Nearby cities we cover: Lakewood, Puyallup, Bonney Lake, and Seattle.

What it costs

Local moves are hourly. A 2-man crew with a truck runs around $130–$180 an hour depending on the season. 3-man crew is more like $180–$240. There’s a 2 or 3-hour minimum.

Long-distance is flat rate, based on what you’ve got and how far. No deposit until you’ve picked a date in writing. Quote is free either way.

The cheapest mover is almost never the cheapest move. Ask anyone three things before you book: are you WUTC-licensed in WA, is your quote binding, and are your movers employees. The answers will tell you a lot.

Book a date

Pick up the phone — (206) 817-5185 — or use the form. We’ll get you a real quote and a date that works.

Frequently asked questions about Tacoma movers

How much do movers cost in Tacoma, WA?

Most local Tacoma moves run $130–$180 per hour for a 2-person crew with a truck, and $180–$240 per hour for a 3-person crew. A typical 1-bedroom apartment is 3–4 hours of labor; a 3-bedroom house is usually 6–8 hours. We give a written estimate before move day so there are no surprises.

Are you licensed and insured to move in Washington?

Yes. Home2Home Moving LLC holds an active WUTC permit and carries cargo and general liability insurance. We’re happy to provide our certificate of insurance if your building or HOA requires one.

Do you do same-day or last-minute moves in Tacoma?

Often, yes. Our schedule fills up first on weekends and the last weekend of the month, but we usually have a crew available with 24–72 hours’ notice on weekdays. Call (206) 817-5185 and we’ll tell you straight.

Do you move just one or two items, or only full homes?

Both. We do single-item moves (a piano, a gun safe, a sectional from a furniture store) and small jobs like a one-bedroom apartment, all the way up to 5-bedroom houses and small offices.

What areas around Tacoma do you serve?

Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, Fircrest, University Place, Midland, Spanaway, Parkland, Bonney Lake, Federal Way, Auburn, Kent, and the greater Seattle area. See our full service-area list for details.

Do you pack as well, or do I have to pack myself?

Either works. Many customers pack their own clothes and books and have us pack the kitchen, the closet, and anything fragile. We can also do a full pack the day before. Boxes and materials are included in the packing service.

What’s the difference between a “moving company near me” and a “labor-only” mover?

A full-service moving company brings the truck, equipment, and crew. Labor-only means we provide the people and the muscle, but you supply the truck (your U-Haul, POD, or rental). Labor-only is usually cheaper if you have a short DIY move.
